As the Need Has Grown, So Has Their Ministry: How Food Pak Ministry in Palm Heights Grew to Meet Families’ Needs During Covid

As the need has grown in communities like Palm Heights, so has the way we at Children’s Hunger Fund have been able to come alongside local churches to serve families like Evangeline Gomez and her three children. Through the Food Pak ministry and bulk shipments of fresh produce and milk from our San Antonio Distribution Center, Pastor Luis and Palm Heights Church of God have been able to deliver food, prayer, and the hope of Christ to over 100 families every week, reminding struggling parents that they are not forgotten. We are thankful for faithful partners whose ministry did not shrink back during the Covid pandemic, but expanded to meet the growing need with both physical help and spiritual encouragement.

Letter from the President

In this latest Letter from the President of Children’s Hunger Fund, we share how God has used a year of great challenge to pour out His blessing on children and families in need. As Covid forced us to pivot again and again—delivering Food Paks to doorsteps instead of inside homes, sourcing food through in-country partners when ports were closed, and reshaping our Food Paks to be more child-focused—our church partners continued to build relationships and share the gospel with each family served. Even our Poverty Encounter exhibit pivoted to a virtual tour, opening eyes and igniting hearts in schools across the country and around the world. Through it all, God provided more than $100 million in food and relief aid, enabling CHF to support thousands of churches in the U.S. and in 25 developing countries, and we remain deeply grateful for your faithful prayers and support.
