Adults with disabilities serve at Children’s Hunger Fund each week through Agape Village, a program for adults with special needs that began volunteering regularly in 2021. Together with CHF staff and other local programs, these reliable and effective volunteers build boxes, place labels on Meal Paks, check expiration dates, and joyfully help deliver hope to children in need.
Volunteers of the Month for March
The Harper Family!

As shared by Kristen and Ross Harper:
“[Our family] started volunteering at Children’s Hunger Fund almost twenty years ago at the old warehouse with our homeschool group from Grace Community Church. Over the years, we’ve bagged dried food, packed Food Paks, sorted Costco donations, examined expiration dates, and wrapped Christmas presents. We enjoyed watching videos from around the world about where our projects would be going.”
“Back in the early days, we also enjoyed ‘shopping’ through the Giving Catalog for gifts to donate in honor of each of our small extended family members. One year, we even wrote a song, ‘The Twelve Days of Giving,’ sung to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas. Here are the words: ‘On the twelfth day of Christmas, we gave to CHF… orphan care from Marion, eleven family Bibles, rice mix from Rachel, tuna from Pawdy, Jack’s water filters, pasta from Anna, medicine from JuJu, cold milk from Will, Kristen’s favorite tracts, Deyea’s beans, cereal from Ross, and a solar-powered lantern from Tim.’
“When Kristen’s Christian fiction novel was published in 2017, we hosted a book release party at Children’s Hunger Fund. One of the chapters was based on volunteering at CHF, and one of the characters was based on the Volunteer Coordinator, Liana.

“Even though our children are grown, we still volunteer and bring friends. The Poverty Encounter is impactful. Thank you for the opportunity to serve the Lord and help send the gospel message of hope out with every Food Pak. Praise the Lord for 35 years of ministry for Children’s Hunger Fund.”

CHF Volunteer Force Impact – Philippines
Ever wonder what happens with those Food Paks you help assemble for the Philippines? Here’s just one example:

Arjun and his family live on the island of Negros near Bacolod City in the Philippines. When Arjun was just thirteen, members of the church visited his family, bringing much-needed Food Paks and holding Bible studies. During this time, Arjun discovered that what was missing from his life went far beyond material needs. Keep reading…
In April and May, the CHF Volunteer Force builds Food Paks for our Mercy Networks in the Philippines. We will build our next Philippines container on April 21st. Sign up on our website.
