Children's Hunger Fund Celebrates Nine Years in DFW, Announces New Facility Groundbreaking

PROSPER, Texas Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF), an international nonprofit organization dedicated to serving impoverished children and families, proudly celebrates nine years of transformative service in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex today.

Founded and headquartered in Los Angeles in 1991, CHF distributed its first Food Pak from the garage of founders Dave and Lynn Phillips. From these humble beginnings, CHF has blossomed into a beacon of hope, serving 18 states in the US and over 30 countries worldwide.

In 2009, CHF opened a distribution center in San Antonio, and as partnerships flourished, Phillips strategically expanded to the DFW Metroplex in 2016. Since its inception, CHF has touched the lives of over 380 million children globally, delivering more than 750 million meals and over $2 billion in gifts-in-kind.

After nearly a decade of impactful service in the region, CHF is thrilled to announce the next chapter in its mission. On May 2, the organization will break ground on its new state-of-the-art 85,000 square foot facility in the Town of Prosper, marking the start of construction on the project slated to open in 2026.

This facility will serve as a regional distribution hub, expanding CHF’s capacity to engage with growing North Texas communities and provide essential support to children and families in need locally and in surrounding areas and states.

CHF’s new Prosper location will house a volunteer center to assemble CHF’s core product, the Food Pak, which is the size of a shoebox and filled with non-perishable food items distributed to every child of a household visited by CHF volunteers. The facility in Prosper is projected to provide 5 million meals per year to children and families in need. Additionally, the building will feature a conference center along with meeting and team building spaces that civic, business, church, and other community partners are welcome to utilize.

CHF is thrilled to introduce ‘Poverty Encounter,’ a major interactive attraction to the region. This multi-sensory experience highlights CHF’s dedication to educating the next generation about the impact of poverty on children’s lives. First launched at CHF’s Los Angeles headquarters in 2018, this transformative exhibit sheds light on the harsh realities faced by children living in extreme poverty worldwide. Guests will embark on a trip around the world, stepping into the lives of these children, understanding their struggles, and discovering how they can help bring hope. Each visit concludes with a volunteer activity and additional opportunities to support impoverished children. CHF expects to welcome nearly 70,000 guests annually in the Town of Prosper.
