Children's Hunger Fund Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Distribution and Volunteer Center in Prosper
85,000 Sqft Facility Slated to Open in 2026.
PROSPER, Texas – May 2, 2025 – Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF), an international nonprofit organization dedicated to feeding children and families in need, celebrated the groundbreaking of its future facility in Prosper, Texas, located about 30 minutes north of Dallas today. This event marked a significant milestone in CHF’s mission to serve suffering children across the country and around the globe.
The ceremony took place at the facility’s future site, located just north of the interchange of U.S. Highway 380 and the Dallas North Tollway. The event featured remarks from CHF leadership, including Founder and President Dave Phillips, and local community leaders, such as the Mayor of Prosper, David Bristol. Attendees included local partners and representatives from across the state and beyond, including members of the Texas Senate and Congress and prominent figures from the education, business, civic, and ministry sectors. Notable attendees also included representatives from surrounding town and city councils, economic development corporations, and chambers of commerce.
Local students participated in the festivities, including members of the Prosper ISD JROTC, who proudly conducted the Presentation of the Colors, while the Celina ISD Choir performed the National Anthem. The official turning of the soil commemorated the occasion, followed by the “Inaugural CHF Prosper Service Activity,” where guests assembled the land’s first-ever “Food Pak,” boxes of nutritious, non-perishable food items delivered to families through CHF volunteers. It is estimated that five million Food Paks will be distributed from this future site, which is projected to open in 2026.

CHF’s complex will enable the organization to enhance its operations, including its distribution and volunteer efforts, and further expand its presence for local, regional, national, and worldwide impact. With increased capacity, CHF will be beter equipped to meet the growing demand for support in the region. Volunteers from the DFW Metroplex will play a crucial role in supporting CHF’s mission.
Additionally, this new complex will feature the award-winning Poverty Encounter Experience, an interactive journey that shows visitors the harsh realities of those living in extreme poverty around the world. Poverty Encounter will be used as an educational tool for the region, with the goal of sparking a heart for service in each visitor.
“Prosper is thrilled to welcome Children’s Hunger Fund to our community, and we look forward to the profound impact CHF will have on our Town. I am grateful for our continued partnership with such an outstanding organization and I am confident that they will make a global impact from right here from Prosper,” Mayor David Bristol shared.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, Children’s Hunger Fund has been a leader in compassionate charity since its founding in 1991, distributing more than 750 million meals and $2 billion in aid to children in the U.S. and around the world.
