Los Angeles Volunteer Update July 2026: Volunteer Spotlight, Summer Hours & Prayer Requests

Volunteer of the Month

Julie Gomez

CHF: How did you first get connected with Children’s Hunger Fund?

Julie: I first heard about Children’s Hunger Fund from my old boss, Jerry, who I worked with in the early 2000s.

CHF: What inspired you to start volunteering with CHF?

Julie: I always wanted to give back to the community but never had the chance when I was first introduced to the organization. Once I was able to make the time, I googled Children’s Hunger Fund and signed up right away. I have been volunteering ever since and now bring my granddaughter and her friends.

CHF: Is there a volunteer moment or experience that stands out as especially meaningful to you?

Julie: I do remember when I first came, they used to show a short video of the children in the different countries the food goes to, and it just melted my heart. Knowing how much it meant to hear their stories just encouraged me to make the effort each month to go volunteer and give.

CHF: What’s one thing you appreciate about other volunteers or the staff you serve alongside?

Julie: The staff is amazing, and the organization is a wonderful place to work and serve.
