Dallas Volunteer Update June 2026: Summertime, Pasta, and Gratitude

Summertime at CHF Dallas

Summer is here—a time when students are out of school, free from homework, and ready to have fun. However, for students who normally rely on school meals for most of their food, this time of year can also mean hunger. This summer, volunteers at CHF will fill Food Paks, perform quality control on donated Food Paks, and process other donated food items so that churches can deliver food and hope to these children in need.

Upcoming dates that the Volunteer Center will be closed in observance of holidays:

  • July 1st – 4th
  • September 5th – 7th

As we prepare to move to our permanent home in Prosper, our last day hosting volunteer groups in Frisco will be September 30th.

Pasta, Pasta, Pasta…

In January, we received 54 large bins of bulk lasagna noodles. Thanks to the incredible efforts of thousands of volunteers, this pasta was carefully packaged into 16‑oz bags to supplement Food Paks distributed to churches, helping nourish children and families in need.

Altogether, our volunteers processed more than 20,000 pounds of pasta.  What an amazing accomplishment!  Thank you for making such a meaningful difference.

April was Volunteer Appreciation Month at Children’s Hunger Fund

As Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Throughout April, we celebrated the incredible impact of our volunteers, and one special way our Dallas team honored them was by creating a Wall of Gratitude.

Volunteers filled the wall with heartfelt cards sharing what volunteering means to them, while our staff added thank-you notes to recognize our amazing volunteers. The display was beautifully framed with artwork created by students from Wilson Elementary in Forney. This small but meaningful display served as a physical reminder of the tremendous value and impact of our volunteers.

Make Your Summer Count!

School’s out—and your kids can make a big difference!
With Project Coin Pak, kids collect spare change to help feed hungry children around the world. Every 25¢ can provide one meal, so even small coins matter.

Children’s Hunger Fund provides free Coin Paks that can be taken home, filled, and returned. The money raised helps deliver food and hope to children in need through local churches.

Fun ways kids can fill their Coin Paks this summer:

  • Do extra chores for spare change
  • Host a lemonade stand
  • Clean out couches, cars, and piggy banks
  • Ask neighbors or family to donate loose coins
  • Team up with friends and make it a challenge

You don’t need a lot of money to help—just a willing heart and a Coin Pak.

To participate, pick up Coin Paks the next time you volunteer or order them from our website –  Project Coin Pak: Turn Kids’ Loose Change Into Meals for Children in Need – Children’s Hunger Fund

Thank You and Prayer Requests

Thank you for your time, support, and heart to serve others. When you volunteer at CHF, you directly impact the lives of children here in the DFW area and around the world.

We invite you to pray with us that volunteers who come through our doors will be inspired by CHF’s mission and take action to get more involved. We pray that our mission would open the eyes of fellow believers to see their everyday places (homes, neighborhoods, families, workplaces, etc.) as mission fields for sharing the gospel.
