What is the Mission Moment?

The Mission Moment is a companion resource to accompany your Answers VBS curriculum that will allow your students to make a difference in the lives of children living in poverty worldwide.

Each day, your students can watch a video—specially themed to accompany the Answers VBS curriculum—introducing them to a boy or girl living in extreme poverty. They will hear how local churches are bringing them food and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with them. Each video will also share how your students can be a part of helping more children around the world receive nutritious meals and hear the good news of Jesus’ love.

In addition to these videos, you will have access to more resources and activities to help your students develop compassion and empathy for others.

What is the impact of the Mission Moment?

Since 2014, churches participating in the Mission Moment have partnered with Children’s Hunger Fund to provide over 19 million meals worldwide for children and families in need.

This was all accomplished by kids collecting coins. Just one quarter can provide a meal for a child facing food insecurity, and every meal matters! Children’s Hunger Fund partners with over a thousand local churches in 33 countries, who deliver meals and share the hope of the gospel with children and families in need in their communities.

The children in your VBS can help more children hear that Jesus loves them by participating in the Mission Moment and collecting coins.

A little second-grade girl in our church asked her mom if she could give all her money to the CHF coin boxes at VBS one night. Her mom said, ‘how about we just take $20?’ The next night, she begged to give all the money she had. Her mother tried to reason with her about buying something for herself with her birthday money. The second grader politely said this to her mother, ‘Mom, we are not poor. We have a house, a car to drive, and plenty of food to eat. There are people starving, and I am giving ALL my money to buy meals.’ What could her mother say? With tears in her eyes, she told her daughter that she was proud of her and that she would be blessed for blessing others, and the little girl gave the rest of her $84 to CHF.

The first time the kids heard about Children’s Hunger Fund, they connected personally with helping others less fortunate than themselves. One child said, ‘why didn’t you tell us about this before?’ Kids brought in offerings from the total content from their piggy banks.

Deliver hope to suffering children right from your computer! Visit ChildrensHungerFund.org/VirtualFoodPak and select a location where our partners serve. Learn about children living in poverty in that area and customize the items in their Food Pak to meet their local needs. Complete your Virtual Food Pak with a donation that can be used to provide meals. Local pastors and volunteers will be equipped with food to meet physical needs and training in gospel-centered mercy ministry to meet spiritual needs.
