Praise the Lord for His protection during the Saddleridge wildfire that broke out late last Thursday night. Though the fire that raged through Sylmar, Porter Ranch, and Granada Hills did come right up to the edge of the parking lot at our CHF Sylmar headquarters, the building was spared from the fires. Structures belonging to our commercial and residential neighbors were preserved as well.

By the grace of God and the diligence of first responders, the building – which houses our distribution center where food and donated goods are kept, our headquarters, and Poverty Encounter – is completely intact. Much of the scorched landscape beyond the parking lot bears the scars of this wildfire that has consumed over 8,000 acres.

Though the building and vehicles were spared, poor air quality and lingering effects of the ash and smoke have delayed some of our normal ministry activities. Specialized smoke restoration crews have been working around the clock since Wednesday evening, and we anticipate a return to the building next week. Thank you so much for your prayers!
