Dave Phillips

Founder & President

Dear Friends,

It is our joy and honor to be able to fellowship with you at the 2022 Children’s Hunger Fund President’s Retreat!

We are looking forward to this time together at the beautiful Montage Laguna Beach resort. God has blessed the ministry of Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) in countless ways over the last thirty years, and we want to allow our gratitude for His faithfulness to direct the future of this ministry.

We hope this is a time of encouragement and rejuvenation, and, as we share with you about the mission of Children’s Hunger Fund, it is my prayer that you would be open to God’s leading to make a difference in the lives of suffering children around the world. We are so thankful for this time to get to know you deeper and for your generosity toward children in need.

ABOUT CHF

At Children’s Hunger Fund, our mission is to deliver hope to suffering children by equipping local churches for gospel-centered mercy ministry.

Since 1991, 96% of all revenue has directly supported programs that serve suffering children and families. CHF has Distribution Centers in Dallas, San Antonio, and at our headquarters in Los Angeles. At each center, bulk food is packed by volunteers into “Food Paks” (a box of nutritious food that can feed a family facing food insecurity).

Through CHF’s unique ministry model, local pastors and volunteers—from churches across the US and in 29 countries around the world—deliver Food Paks directly to the homes of families in need in their communities. These Food Paks open the door for relationships to be formed and for the gospel to be shared, meeting not only the family’s physical need for food but their spiritual need for Christ, as well.

Speakers & event hosts

Dave Phillips

Founder & President

As a young man, the devastating poverty Dave witnessed at a children’s hospital in Honduras changed him forever. With a united passion to impact the next generation and help local churches build relationships with poor children in their communities, Dave and his wife, Lynn, founded Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF).

Lynn Phillips

Co-founder and Relationship Development Ambassador

After helping her husband, Dave, establish Children’s Hunger Fund, Lynn transitioned from her job as a public school teacher to homeschool their four sons. Lynn has always had a heart for children, and her desire to educate the next generation on a biblical response to global poverty led to her role as a Poverty Encounter facilitator. She now serves CHF as a Relationship Development Ambassador.

Michael Richards

Senior Vice President

For nearly twenty years, Michael has served at Children’s Hunger Fund in a myriad of ways, from overseeing volunteer operations and international logistics, to opening the San Antonio and Dallas offices. As Senior Vice President, he is focusing on cultivating relationships with supporters, stewardship, ambassador program, executive leadership, and the growth of the Children’s Hunger Fund Legacy Foundation.

Morgan Owen

Executive Director, Relationship Development

Morgan first came to Children’s Hunger Fund nearly fourteen years ago. Morgan oversees the strategy, management, and execution of CHF’s Communications, Marketing, Donor Care, Special Events, and Relationship Development teams. Morgan feels honored to be able to use her gifts to further the mission of Children’s Hunger Fund.

Buddy Brewer

Executive Director, Operations

Buddy brings to Children’s Hunger Fund diverse experience from both corporate business and international missions work. Buddy spent 15 years working for Fortune 500 companies in the areas of sales, sales planning, sales strategy, and business analytics. Buddy has a passion for pastors, the local church, and seeing lives transformed by the power of the gospel.

Léonce Crump Jr.

Sr. Pastor, Renovation Church

Léonce Crump Jr. is an author, international speaker, and co-founder of Renovation Church in Atlanta. A champion for the church’s participation in focused and intentional cultural renewal, Léonce is the leading voice of a generation committed to operating as God’s redemptive agents in the earth.

Aaron and Emily Pelsue

Musical Guest

Aaron Pelsue is a singer-songwriter, artist, and worship leader based out of Raleigh, NC. After spending 15 years in full-time ministry at two mega-churches, Aaron and Emily began traveling and leading worship as “musicianaries.” They have produced and released a dozen worship albums and continue writing and recording today. Recently, Aaron began serving as a worship pastor at Hope Community Church, based in Raleigh, NC.
