(Los Angeles) Children’s Hunger Fund announced today that Southern California painting company ALLBRIGHT 1-800-PAINTING has pledged $25,000 to deliver hope to children in crisis over the next three years as part of the CHF’s “Think Inside the Box” program, which aims to send 25 million meals to kids in need during 2015. This donation also includes $7,000 worth of painting services for the charity’s Los Angeles Distribution Center in Sylmar. This donation celebrates the 10 year campaign started by ALLBRIGHT’s president, Josh Abramson entitled “Paint-It-Forward” and is the largest single donation the company has made to date.
The Distribution Center for Children’s Hunger Fund is a valuable resource for the local community and the world. Bulk food arrives via donations by individuals and corporate entities, which is then packed by a robust team of volunteers. They bag and pack the food into a Food Pak box, which is 20 pounds of food and sufficient for up to 48 meals. Last year over 17,000 volunteers served in the Distribution Center and sent out nearly 56,000 Food Paks from Los Angeles alone. CHF staff then trucks the Food Pak boxes around the Southern California region, as well as ships them via sea containers around the world to Africa, Mexico, the Caribbean, Philippines, and Latin America. The boxes are then distributed into the communities by trained local volunteers.
The donated funds will send Food Pak boxes to help children in need, including orphans rescued from human trafficking. ALLBRIGHT 1-800-PAINTING donation will significantly improve the quality of the building’s interior, making the facility more attractive and pleasant for the volunteers and staff that keep the Center humming. In addition to distribution, the Los Angeles facility also houses the international headquarters for Children’s Hunger Fund.
“We started the Paint-It-Forward campaign back in 2005 when we got invited to work on the TV show Extreme Home Makeover on ABC to help a local family in need” says ALLBRIGHT 1-800-PAINTING president Josh Abramson. “We realized then that we could keep doing this same thing without a TV show – we could use the talents we have been given to help someone in our local community. Since then, we have given away over
$100,000 of painting services to bless and help others in need.”
Children’s Hunger Fund was thrilled when Abramson’s staff presented the donation, which was unexpected but greatly appreciated.
“We are so thrilled to be the recipients of such a generous donation,” says Children’s Hunger Fund Founder and President Dave Phillips. “This will provide food and other aid to serve children in crisis, who are some of the most vulnerable in our world today. And the
painting services will make packing the Food Paks a little brighter for the volunteers who work so diligently every week.”
